For a very long time, the Névoa Region was cast into shadow. Without a savior, the province had no protection from the forces; from the disasters that befall every land. Both its people and its Pokémon were at the mercy of both the forces of nature, and the forces of evil. The destruction was devastating.
There was an earthquake, thought to be caused by a group of Onyx, that changed the future of the Névoa region. With the force of this natural disaster, a small group of Pokémon stumbled into the misty province. All but one of these mysterious Pokémon were killed; a young female Absol. With her, a revolution began in the Névoa Region. But, it had been a rocky start. Reports of an unusual white Pokémon were given regarding the catastrophes that would cripple the Nevoa region. And, of course, out of fear, she was blamed. After nearly a quarter of a century of similar treatment, the Absol retreated to the northwest, in a mountainous area that was home to a large, eerie forest in its valley. The mists that the region was aptly named for lingered between the trees, giving the forest an apathetic tone, and thus so, it became known as the Melancholy Forest. Still, she persevered.
It became common knowledge that the Absol resided somewhere in the forest, and many have entered the forest in an attempt to capture the elusive animal. The forest itself is vast, and it acts as a natural labyrinth. As a protector to the forest and to the Pokémon sheltered within, and, as was her hope, the protector of Névoa, she would guide these trainers out, very rarely appearing before them.
She is not alone in her endeavors, however. Three select Pokémon have taken guard to watch over the Region, covering land, air, and sea. Highly powerful, these creatures are rare in the Region of Névoa, and are unmatched in power, even if they should meet another of their own kind. Strong and sturdy, Tyranitar watches the earth, protecting it from harm. Swift and bright, a Togekiss soars high above, seeking only peace, and, therefore, striving to keep it. Elegant and intelligent, a Milotic watches the waters, calming the seas.
It has been half a century since the saviors of the Névoa Region came into existence, and their legacy has become common knowledge. And, with every great good, there is a great evil behind it. A new team has formed, Team Aether, believing that the appearance of such powerful Pokémon sets off the natural balance of the misty province. Their goal? To kill the legendaries. And they’ve almost succeeded. Other Pokémon have taken a power of protection over various cities, such as Lucario and Delcatty, only to be killed by the villains. Other Pokémon have fallen to their power, upsetting the people and striking fear into the hearts of humans and Pokémon alike. Using their own Pokémon, the team organized a disaster, calling forth the Absol herself. They managed to injure the creature, but were unsuccessful in destroying her. A powerful attack of Frustration brought them to their knees, and it was enough for her to escape alive. It’s been another handful of years since then, and all that remains of that attack are memories and a jagged scar along the horn on her head.
Still, she is undeterred. She still helps those in need. Good, bad, race, human or Pokémon, it matters not to her. She knows who the enemy is. And she seeks to protect this land from that enemy so they do not befall the same pain that she had. If you ever find yourself hopelessly lost, depend not on the disaster Pokémon, but on the angel of good fortune, an Absol who’ll guide you to the light in even the most desolate situations.
